This full-day CPD course is designed to show you practical tips which will help you lead a successful club or lesson outdoors. You will come away with new ideas for lessons, some basic resources and most importantly inspiration to take back to your setting.
The morning will be more of a theoretical overview. Topics covered;
- How to improve your soil
- No dig principles
- Outline on pests & diseases
The afternoon will be more practical. Topics covered;
- Seed sowing into pots & trays
- Preparing a seed bed
- H&S with tools
- Sowing seeds direct
- Planting out
The course will end with an overview, covering;
- How to garden on a budget
- Sharing good practice – group learning
- Lesson ideas & create your own action plan

Teachers, TA’s or support staff who have an interest in growing at school. It would also be ideal for someone who already leads or is planning on leading an after school club. The course is jam packed with useful ways to maximise your space, save time, money and produce amazing healthy plants. You will also come away with a personalised action plan to help make positive actions this spring to give your outdoor space, playing fields and playgrounds the best possible start in vegetable and fruit growing.
Inspire and motivate pupils with exciting additions to your outdoor curriculum and environment. Collaborate with other teachers and parents to get growing and re-connecting your pupils with food and nature in school.
